———————TOYO CONSTRUCTION I INTEGRATED REPORT 2024(FY)StrategyIn line with guidance from TCFD, we analyzed and assessed the impact of climate change on our operations using a scenario analysis of our business environment through 2040. With the results, we are working to reduce construction-stage CO2 emissions by promoting decarbonization of construction machinery and work vessels, wider use of low-carbon materials, the construction of cable-laying vessels needed in building offshore wind power facilities, and a decrease in LCCO2*2 by converting structures to ZEB/ZEH. In addition, we seek to capitalize on business opportunities by leveraging technology and R&D efforts that can contribute to infrastructure improvements, including disaster prevention and mitigation measures and strategies to strengthen national resilience to natural disasters.Indicators and goalsBy fiscal 2030, we aim to cut CO2 emissions produced during construction work (Scope 1 and 2) more than 45%, compared with the fiscal 2013 reference value (domestic, parent-only; basic unit during construction), and by 2030, to cut the Scope 3 Category 11 release (CO2 operational emissions from buildings designed and constructed by Toyo Construction) more than 60%, compared with standard-design buildings.Toyo Construction discloses information related to climate change in accordance with information disclosure recommendations developed by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).GovernanceThe Sustainability Committee considers proposals for action plans related to sustainability, including measures to address climate change, reviews the status of their implementation, reports to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors, and, when necessary, discusses sustainability-related action plans and their implementation status.Risk monitoring resultsRisk managementAll business risks, including climate change, are reviewed and assessed by the Risk Management Committee, which reports to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors twice a year. The Head Office and business divisions properly address risks in their operations by formulating the measures needed to preclude and reduce risks inherent in their respective business processes.CO2 emission results (domestic, parent-only)Change of environment• Increase in cost due to the addition of carbon tax on construction materials and equipment price• Decrease of private construction investment due to increase in construction cost• Expansion of construction investment in offshore wind power generation facilities• Increased demand for construction to meet the ZEB/ZEH standard• Increase of health damage due to heatstroke, etc.• Decline in productivity due to worse working environment, critical shortage of skilled workers• Increased risk of damage generation at supply chain, own company facilities, construction site because of abnormal weather• Increase of infrastructure improvement work such as the measures for accelerating disaster prevention, disaster mitigation and national resilience202045,956 t-CO257,565 t-CO2Note: Sampling surveys used to calculate total emissions*1 GTL: Gas-to-liquids.
