(hereinafter the \u201cCompany\u201d) is delighted to announce that it implemented<br \/>\nthe pile pull-out experiment using repeated load (hereinafter the \u201cExperiment\u201d) for the first time in Japan<br \/>\nat Ishikari Bay in Hokkaido, for the verification testing project of floating offshore wind power generation<br \/>\nby TLP method\u203b\uff11.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000The Experiment is the on-site demonstration experiment of mooring foundation of which the<br \/>\nCompany is in charge, as part of the &#8220;Project to Develop Cost-Reducing Technology for TLP Floating<br \/>\nOffshore Wind Turbines&#8221; \u203b2 which the consortium, consisting of the Company, MODEC, Inc.,<br \/>\nFurukawa Electric Industry Co., Ltd., and JERA Co., Ltd. (hereinafter jointly the \u201cFour Companies\u201d)<br \/>\nwas selected to conduct by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization<br \/>\n(NEDO) under the Green Innovation Fund program.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000In the Experiment, nation\u2019s largest steel pipe piles were used as the test specimen, and pull-out<br \/>\nexperiment using repeated load was conducted, which is the first trial in Japan. Based on the data<br \/>\nobtained by the Experiment, we will establish the design and construction technologies for TLP<br \/>\nmooring foundation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000The Company raises the offshore-wind-power related business as a \u201cgrowth driver\u201d and is promoting<br \/>\nthe business to make it our future core business. Particularly, we put priority and focus on developing<br \/>\ntechnologies for lowering costs related to the offshore wind power generation business. TLP systems<br \/>\nare expected to reduce the cost of power generation because the high<br \/>\nstability of floating body in the ocean wave enables installation of large 15<br \/>\nMW-class wind turbines, which have the potential to become mainstream in<br \/>\nthe future, on compact floating platforms. In addition, TLP mooring lines<br \/>\nare expected to be more socially acceptable than other mooring systems<br \/>\nbecause they can reduce the space occupied under the sea by 1\/1,000<br \/>\napproximately and have less impact on existing businesses such as the<br \/>\nfishing industry and ship operations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Project to Develop Cost-Reducing Technology for TLP Floating Offshore Wind Turbine \u203b2<\/p>\n<p>\u3000The Four Companies, including the Company, applied to the technology development program for cost<br \/>\nreduction of manufacture and installation of floating foundation for the &#8220;Project to Develop Cost-Reducing<br \/>\nTechnology for TLP Floating Offshore Wind Turbines&#8221; for the realization of the 2050 Carbon Neutral<br \/>\nDeclaration by the governments of Japan, proposed by NEDO under its Green Innovation Fund program<br \/>\n\u3010R&#038;D item: Phase 1-\u2461\u3011, and this component technology development project for approximately two<br \/>\nyears was accepted on January 21, 2022.<br \/>\n\u3000In addition to conducting simulations and demonstrations of component technologies previously studied by<br \/>\neach company \u2014 mooring foundations by the Company, floating and mooring systems by MODEC, and<br \/>\npower transmission systems by Furukawa Electric \u2014 a basic plan for a 15 MW-class power generation<br \/>\ndemonstration facility will be drawn up based on design and environmental parameters provided by JERA<br \/>\nCo., Ltd.
