Ambassador of Japan to Romania, JETRO Bucharest office manager and others visit self-propelled cable laying vessel under construction in Romania

The self-propelled cable laying vessel by Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director,
Chairperson and CEO: Shinya Yoshida) currently under construction in the Vard Group AS (Head Office: Norway, COO: Erik Sandnes)
Tulcea Shipyard (location: Romania), was visited by Japanese Ambassador to Romania Takashi Katae, Director General of
JETRO Bucharest office Sawaka Takasaki and others on June 4, 2025

Ambassador Katae and his delegation showed strong interest in the explanation of the construction situation, and a lively question
and answer session was held. Ambassador Katae commented, “The execution of the shipbuilding contract in Romania between
Toyo Construction and Vard will lead to the further development of the relationship between Japan, Romania and Norway, and
is expected to play an important role in the spread of renewable energy in Japan and other countries in the future.”

Construction of Self-propelled Cable Laying Vessel

Construction of the vessel began with the steel cutting in July 2024, followed by the Keel Laying Ceremony in September of
the same year. The Launching Ceremony will be held at the end of June 2025, and construction is progressing steadily toward
the scheduled delivery of the vessel in June 2026.

The vessel will be able to operate at a high utilization rate in a wide range of sea areas, from shallow water to deep water for
floating offshore wind power generation and DC power transmission projects, by optimizing the hull design to meet
the environmental conditions and construction conditions of Japan. In addition, the high-performance crane and the large deck area
make the vessel suitable for both fixed offshore wind foundation construction and floating offshore wind mooring installation.
