Launching ceremony for CLV held in Romania

Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director,
Chairperson and CEO: Shinya Yoshida) is excited to announce that the launching ceremony
(*1) of the self-propelled cable laying vessel constructed by Vard Group AS (Head Office:
Norway, COO: Erik Sandnes) was held on June 27 at the Vard shipyard in Romania. The
vessel will proceed to the full-scale outfitting process (*2) by first completing the initial
outfitting in Romania by the end of September 2025, and then it will be transported to Norway
for secondary outfitting and comprehensive test runs. The construction of the ship is
progressing smoothly toward delivery at the end of June 2026.

*1: In shipbuilding, this is the process of putting a newly built ship assembled on a
shipbuilding platform into the water for the first time.

*2: This is the final stage of the shipbuilding process, after the hull has been completed, in
which cable laying equipment, cargo handling equipment, and interior and exterior fittings
are installed.

The launching ceremony was attended by numerous guests, including representatives from
our company, Vard Group, the Japanese Embassy in Romania, ClassNK, and the JETRO
Bucharest Office. Ryo Taniguchi, Senior Researcher at the Japanese Embassy in Romania,
expressed his gratitude to Vard for its advanced shipbuilding technology that made it possible
to complete the ship in such a short period of time, and expressed his hope that the ship would
play a major role in achieving carbon neutrality in Japan in the future.

Our company aims to achieve the top market share in offshore wind construction and will take
on the challenge of promoting Green Transformation (GX) to contribute toward the
realization of carbon neutrality by 2050, maximizing the potential of the ocean itself, and
connecting it to the future.

Scheduled for completion in 2026 Construction of Japan’s largest self-propelled cable laying vessel

By designing a hull that is optimally suited to Japan’s natural and construction conditions, the
vessel will be capable of operating at a high utilization rate in a vast marine area, from shallow
waters to deep waters where floating wind and DC power transmission projects are conducted.
Additionally, with its high-performance crane and wide deck area, the vessel is suitable for
various applications which are essential for promoting GX initiatives, including bottom-fixed
offshore wind foundation construction, floating wind mooring construction, carbon dioxide
capture and storage (CCS) projects, and marine energy and resource development projects.
